The Sharks foundation was founded in 1994, the goal being organizing with local individuals, partners, and funding partners in hopes of raising funds and hosting events to benefit the lives of youths and families in the Bay Area. The organization has raised and donated around $10.1 million to hundreds of non profits which benefit youth and families around the Bay Area. They hold many events throughout the season like fan favorites bowling and wine tasting with the Shark players and staff.
Another event the foundation holds is the annual holiday assist party. Players and coaches spend time with underserved families and each provide a family with gifts from their Christmas wish list which otherwise they would not have received. The foundation also donates $1,100 for every Sharks goal scored at the tank. To this date they have raised $209,000 for the chosen local organizations. This year that includes the Second Harvest food bank, Make a Wish, JW House and more.
This year for the first time they have a 50/50 raffle every home game. Whoever wins takes home half the money raised while the other half goes to charity. Last game’s charity was for the flooding relief, many times they choose timely charities. For hockey is for everyone they it went to the LGBTQ youth space. Throughout the year players go to hospitals and museums to reach out and support the community which is all done through the Sharks Foundation. They have made a huge impact on the community since their founding.
